Frequently Asked Questions about refilled cartridges

Any questions? Here are answers to some of the most common questions we’re asked about refilled cartridges.

Do refilled cartridges work?

Yes, all our refilled cartridges work, in fact we offer a better than a 100% guarantee that your refilled cartridge will work just like a new cartridge.

Will using refilled or remanufactured cartridges void my printer’s warranty?

No, it is a legal fact the printer manufacturers CANNOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY simply for using refilled cartridges.

Will I get the same quality from a refilled cartridge as I do from a new cartridge?

Yes, with Cartridge UK we guarantee it!

How many pages will my cartridge print?

It really depends on what you are printing. Printing a text document doesn’t use as much ink as when you print a photo. Cartridge UK customers tell us our cartridges produce at least as many pages as those from original suppliers.

I’ve tried using a refill kit but it didn’t work - what makes your cartridges different?

In our experience refill kits tend not to work and there are several reasons why. Firstly Cartridge UK cleans, dries and then refills cartridges in a vacuum chamber; this ensures that there are no air bubbles trapped in the print head, and you get a flawless print every time. Secondly almost every ink cartridge has its own ink that is formulated to produce the best results, refill kits ink tend to be a generic ink and not designed specifically for your cartridge.

Will a refilled or remanufactured cartridge damage my printer?

No, bear in mind that the ink does not touch any part of the printer or internal parts other than the cartridge and print head. The ink is applied to the paper as the paper is fed through the printer.

Will using refilled or remanufactured cartridges void my printer’s warranty?

We generally use the term ‘refill’ for ink cartridges and ‘remanufacture’ for toner cartridges. Ink cartridges are more common, used in homes and generally smaller then toner cartridges. The ink cartridge is cleaned, tried and then refilled in a vacuum chamber. Toner cartridges are the big usually black boxes typically used in offices. These cartridges get stripped down to their shell, the components are inspected and reused when ever possible – however we never compromise on quality.

When is the best time to get my cartridge refilled? How do I know when my cartridge is running low?

When you start seeing the colour or black fading this is best time to get it refilled – some printers give you an early warning. If you run the cartridge completely dry this could damage the cartridge and then we won’t be able to refill it. Leaving a printer cartridge sat in a car or on the window sill will also cause the cartridge to dry out. As soon as the cartridges runs low bring it or send it for refilling ASAP.

How many times can my cartridge be refilled?

We will refill a cartridge as many times as practical, and that will depend on how it is used and handled. Each cartridge we receive is condition checked before we start the refill process. Treat your cartridge with care, and it could last dozens of refills.

How green is the Cartridge UK operation?

Our belief is that the greenest way to operate a printing operation is to reuse wherever possible. So we reuse all the toner boxes and inkjet cartridges we can – we’ll only reject them if they are too badly damaged or worn to work properly. And we clean and refill them at our own premises, locally – so they’re not trucked hundreds of miles for treatment. We also encourage customers to reuse the small amount of packaging we use; and when we deliver, we like to collect your empties at the same time.
